Chemical testing detected levels of formaldehyde, inside one of Canterbury District Health Board's mobile by mouth units, exceeded national Workplace Getting exposed Standards.

Staff working in twenty-two while using the region's units have attended material sessions and some have undergone intentional occupational health monitoring after the exposure.

The board said the compound was common in low concentrations of mit in the home and workplaces, particularly how materials such as MDF, particle material and plywood have been used in model.

Dr Andrew Hilliard, an independent work health physician contracted by the material, said the risk to staff provides very low and for the general public who had devoted a short time there, it was negligible.
