Dylan Nowik's five-piece brainchild is expanding up. The band is positiioned to release their second full-length VINYLSKIVA this summer, and will be supporting the release making use of run of shows across Brooklyn. Flora's eleven tracks are the intensive two weeks' time occupied totally recording last summer in an Upstate New York Barn, and seven ages of creative deliberation in blog. Says keyboardist Slack Barrett, "Dylan is so meticulous, you know, with blending and final touches... but the ultimate result is essential to our sound, and I advantages time he spends as a well-practiced ritual. "
Recording Upstate dished up Nowik some new opportunities, and the improvement in scenery encouraged ingenuity. Their album, Good Evening, released in September 2013, was recorded at Rose Studios operating in Brooklyn, and is described as being "folky, baroque pop" whereas Nowik welcomes Flora as the result of a desire for rhythm, textures and soundscapes. Factors sonic eccentricities throughout the album, like the recordings of bugs in Vermont, and a massacred crash cymbal. Replies Nowik, "Andrew wanted a different cymbal on 'Waiting', and nothing was being employed, so he and I went coming from the barn out to the street at as if 2pm and just started thrashing this important thing on the road with hammers, creating a big racket. It fractured eventhough, and we used it".
Nowik certainly not left the easel on which his/her artwork was taking shape; throughout two weeks, other members made all their way in and out from the city and consequently laid down parts. The result is a real lush patchwork of sound, filled with DD-7 delay-scapes, dictaphone recordings as to conversation, fuzzed out harmonies and consequently smooth yet enormous transitions that do pull you in like a previous as it gets closer to a design. The mist rising up from this waterfall is Flora: airy and consequently beautiful, the intangible result of a real journey over the edge of an everlasting flow between delicacy and force.
